Tour from fjords to Alpine peaks and ski glaciers down to the Sea

This trip is quite unlike a hut to hut or hotel trip.

Returning to te boat every night means that it is possible to climb with light packs yet still have luxuries such as iPods, books; spare clothes when you return every evening. But it isn`t the same as hotel trip so there are some limitations.

The typical day starts at around 7.00 with breakfast around 7.30. By 8.30 skisare being loaded onto a dingy which will then make 2 or3 shuttle runs to the shore. The skiing usually starts from the beach and sometimes returns to the same spot or other times meets the boat on another stretch of coast. Lunch is served once back on the boat so snacks etc are essential on the mountain.

Once lunch is over, the boat usually sails on to the next spot leaving plenty of time for chilling out. Dinner is served after the boat is moored again and sometimes this can be quite late so it can be a good idea to catch a nap first.

A Few Notes

Power/Electricity
It is possible to charge batteries and phones etc on the boat [French Plug] but this must be done in moderation as the supply is limited

Phones
There is mobile signal most of the time

Clothing
It is generally colder than the Alps and at least one extra layer will be needed most of the time. A duvet jacket for the summits or breaks is also useful. Thicker than usual gloves and hats will be good too. As its not necessary to carry all clothing, it is probably best to bring too much rather than too little.

In the evening its nice to have casual comfy clothes and things like slippers.

Gear
The region is very remote and running repairs to skis, skins etc will be difficult or impossible. Remember to check everything is in full working order before leaving.

Crampons/Ice Axe
Lightweight ski touring ice axes and crampons will be ok for this tour

Food
As lunch is served after returning from skiing, snacks such as sweets, musili bars, dried fruit, chocolate etc are essential to keep energy levels up on the mountain. These are probably best bought in the uk.

Note: a flask for hot tea etc will be useful

Alcohol
There is a limited supply of beer for sale on the boat. If you are likley to want more than one beer per person per night, it is best to bring some from the uk or buy it once you get into Norway. Note that the shops cant sell alcohol after 6pm or on Sundays.

Showers
It is possible to have a shower on the boat although hot water is limited so dont bank on more than one or two each during the week.
