| Day
1 - Fly to Pau Pyrenees with Ryanair
Arrive at Pau airport to be transferred to your accommodation
in Luz Saint Sauveur. Spend the evening wandering around the
small town settling in. You can also choose to arrive by car
or train.
Day 2 - White Water Rafting
This morning you will meet up with other guests and head off
to the river for some Pyrenees white water rafting. This is
an ideal activity for beginners and youngsters. If you really
enjoy the rafting, and want more whitewater rafting thrills,
there is the possibility later in the week of trying air boating,
in which just two of you paddle a much smaller inflatable
craft.
Day 3 - Canyoning
Today is market day in Luz, so we will leave you the morning
free to explore the town at its most vibrant. In the afternoon,
we will pick you up and head off canyoning, where you will
get the opportunity to abseil off waterfalls and jump into
ice cold plunge pools. Don’t worry, we will give you
a wetsuit.
Day 4 - Swimming or Walking
Today it is up to you! Have a rest, use the local swimming
pool, go to the thermal baths, or just curl up in the sun
with a book. If you are a family which doesn’t like
to rest, we can arrange some mountain biking for you, so you
can explore the area under your own steam. There are some
great routes locally, and so much to see. Perhaps you could
go to the Ferme des Cascades, which is a local goat farm open
to visits, so you can see traditional farming methods in action
and taste its delicious cheese and honey.
Day 5 - Hike in the High Mountains
Meet up with your guide and explore the Pyrenees on foot.
There are countless possible destinations today, depending
on whether you want to reach a lofty peak, swim in emerald
mountain lakes, walk across to Spain, or go and find as many
furry marmottes and other wildlife as you can.
You may like to end the day by throwing yourself off Napoleon’s
bridge towards the bottom of the canyon, before bouncing back
up on the bungee! This may not be for everybody, but we can
help you to sort it out if you fancy. Or you could just go
up and watch!
Day 6 – A Day Off
A day for yourself today, when you may want to relax where
you’re staying or you may want more action. With horse
riding and paragliding nearby or the possibility of doing
more river activities, there’s something for everybody
and we will do our best to help you organise it.
Day 7- The Donjon des Aigles
Today is packed with variety as you head down into the Argeles
valley to swing in the trees on a really exciting ropes course.
Equipped with harness, helmet and pulley, you will swing around
the trees in a constant challenge of balance and strength.
After this, we will head up to the Donjon des Aigles where
we will see many of the vultures, eagles and other birds of
prey which are native to this region. The spectacle of immense
raptors flying past your nose is truly unforgettable and a
great finale to your week.
Day 8- Travel back to the UK
We will transfer you back to your airport for your flight
home. You ‘re likely to sleep all the way!
